My submission for Kiri's 3D Modeling Jam #12.

I wanted to show how far video game technology has come by creating a pixel-art shotgun that transitions into a fully 3D double-barrel shotgun with vivid textures. It has plenty of fun little details, such as Pac-Man on the shells, the Playstation buttons along the barrel, rupees, and a Tri-Force!

I made up the design of the shotgun as I went along, but I was inspired by the shotguns from Doom: Eternal and Doom: The Dark Ages.

I created the pixellated portion by finding an image of a pixel-art shotgun and adding it as reference. I made a plane and added subdivisions until they matched the pixelation of the reference.  And then I essentially cut out the shape by deleting excess faces, and extruded it to make it 3D!

When I moved into texturing, I had the idea of adding video game iconography, so I added various symbols in the form of engravings on the gun. It was very fun to come up with them! Then I posed the model in Unreal to take some beauty shots.
